Finnish National Opera

The Finnish National Opera is located only a few minutes away from the center of Helsinki. The Opera is easy to reach by foot, trams, busses or car.

The National Opera offers the visitors operas, ballets and concerts. The performances vary from classical to modern.

Guided tours behind the scenes give a one- hour taste of the world of opera, highlighting the huge amount of expertise that is required to put on a successful opera performance. The guided tour takes visitors through what happens in the building during the day.

Guided tours of the Opera House in English are organized on request during the performance season. Guided tours in other languages can also be arranged.

According to international practice, all operas are performed in the language in which they were written. The Opera has a surtitling screen where Finnish and English translations of the text are projected during the performance
